Whole Wheat French Toast Sticks

Whole Wheat French Toast Sticks

French Toast Sticks are a thing of my childhood. I saw them at the store one day and almost bought them. I decided I’d go home and create my own and I’m so glad I did. Using a nice thick piece of whole wheat bread and traditional methods for making french toast, we have healthy Whole Wheat French Toast Sticks! Perfectly dippable and majorly kid friendly. In this case also adult friendly 🙂

The secret to getting that crispy outside is rolling the sticks in cinnamon sugar while they are still hot. As they cool they will firm up and become perfectly dippable french toast sticks. French toast sticks work really well with a nice thick bread. I really like Dave’s Killer Bread Brand. You could also buy a loaf of wheat bread and cut the sticks super thick. The thicker they are, the sturdier they will be.

French toast sticks are actually a great idea for a brunch. Since they are nice and small you can make a big batch and everyone can just put a few on their plate. They are really portable too.  I make us a batch of these and put them in individual containers with a little bit of syrup for dipping. They heat up really well and make for a great breakfast on the go or at your desk.
