Best Grilled Chili Lime Chicken Street Tacos Recipe- Tips/Additions

So, this recipe is another basic where you can amp up the flavor however you wish. I use the Chili Lime Seasoning from Trader Joe’s, but you can also use Tahin, which is basically the same thing.  If you can’t find either of these simply use chili powder, salt, and squeeze lime juice over the chicken and zest the lime too for extra flavor.  So easy!

This is such flavorful seasoning that you won’t need the usual marinated chicken.  This chicken street taco recipe requires no prep ahead!

If you don’t want to use chicken breasts, you are welcome to use boneless skinless chicken thighs. Boneless skinless chicken breasts can be dry and the thighs do guarantee juicy chicken.  However, if you use a meat thermometer, you can enjoy delicious grilled chicken no matter which cut you use!

I like the guacamole and lettuce, but you can also add sour cream, pico de gallo, hot sauce,  red onion or white onion and cheese if you’d like.  I’d recommend Cotija cheese because it would work well with the seasonings.

Street Tacos Substitutions

You want to serve your tacos in warm tortillas.  I prefer soft corn tortillas, but feel free to use flour tortillas.  I like to use a grill pan if I’m making these indoors and if I’m outdoors, my gas grill.  This is a fabulous summer recipe for a crowd, because it can all be done on the grill.

If you don’t have a grill pan then a cast iron skillet works great!

You can sub in boneless skinless chicken thighs for the chicken breasts.

Want to make this recipe even easier?

Hit the easy button on the Best Grilled Chili Lime chicken Street Tacos Recipe by using pre-grilled/ cooked chicken.  Simply toss in a pan over medium-high heat with the chili lime seasoning.  Store bought Guacamole is also just fine!

How to store Leftover Chicken Tacos

Store the tortillas and the chicken each in a separate airtight container. They will last 3-4 days in the fridge.  I cannot recommend freezing leftovers of these Mexican street tacos.  Cooked chicken will just dry out.

Ways to use Grilled Mexican Chicken

You can use the chicken for burrito bowls instead of tacos.  Taco salads are also a great way to use it.  This flavorful chicken paired with some refried beans also makes a fantastic tostada. The chicken recipe is alone can be a base for a ton of easy meals.

You’ll be able to stay home from the Mexican Restaurant or the food truck and make delicious fresh Mexican grilled chicken at home!

I made these and they were delicious! My husband and I both loved them. 1 large chicken breast is enough for 6 tacos. The recipe is delicious as is, however I made a few notes for my personal taste for the next time I make them, which will be often. I will add a little seeded chopped tomato to the guacamole along with a few shakes of Franks. (I like a little more bite to my taco's) I would also cut the onion in the guacamole a little, however as mentioned before it is delicious as is.
